President's Reflections
by Lynette Cowper
I hope everyone's been enjoying their spring! Kai had her spring break a
couple weeks ago and then this week has been Ren's spring break. Our house
has been full of friends of both of them!
This month, we're hosting Rob Pyatt and his Weird Science talk. Later in
the month, we've got the Lyrids meteor shower. Anyone who would like to
come watch for meteors is free to come out to our house in the boondocks
where there's not so much light pollution.
InConJunction planning is going well. I'll take this time to remind
everyone to book their room.
I hope to see everyone at the meeting!

Summary of the March Meeting
by Lynette Cowper
I'm doing this from memory, as I seem to have mislaid the meeting minutes.
The club met on March 3rd at LifeJourney Church. We were slim on
attendance due to Who's Yer Con.
We went through the various volunteer positions with the club and sought
people to fill them. Many of them remain unfilled. If you are interested
in helping out the club, please email president at circleofjanus dot org.
I handed out copies of the Club Constitution and the first page of the
Bylaws and asked people to look them over in the coming month and make
note of anything that was unclear or lacking and either bring the pages
back to the next meeting or email board at circleofjanus dot org with
them.
Not much else was accomplished and the meeting was rather short.

Summary of the March Board Meeting
by Lynette Cowper
The Board met on March 24 at Valley Mills Christian Church. All Board
members were present, but no guests. We opened at 1:06 pm with the
approval of the January and February minutes.
We talked about a lot of different things-- Who's Yer Con, cash registers
for the convention, networking and promotions, our online presence, what
to do with the bank accounts, storage, the Bylaws caucus, scheduling of
2013 meetings with conflicts in mind, convention plans, and so on.
Lynette brought up the idea of starting a fund to cover memberships for
people in financial difficulties, so they don't drift away from the club
or lose their officer eligibility. The idea would be that they could apply
after the January meeting, so if they wanted to vote or run for office,
they'd need to come up with their dues for themselves. They'd be expected
to pay back into the fund once their situation improved. The Board seemed
to like the idea and Melissa suggested doing a similar thing called
Sponsor a Geek for the con where people could add any amount of donation
to their badge price for others, who could then fill out an application
and be selected through some process to be worked out by the ConChairs. We
discussed who would administer the CoJ fund and what to do with a case of
too many applicants and not enough money. There were suggestions that the
loan be for one year only and only one per family with a preference given
to those who have actively contributed to the club through service as an
officer, appointee, committee member, concom member, or volunteer. We
decided it was a good enough idea to take to the club and get their input.
We went over our action items, then adjourned at 2:42 pm.
