Summary of the January Meeting

The club met on January 7th at LifeJourney Church. All officers were
present. We had one guest, Martina, an artist who heard about us at Gen
Con.

We called the meeting to order a bit late because Treasurer and Election
Officer Emily Rodgers was having computer issues and was delayed arriving.
We interspersed elections with other business so we weren't waiting around
while ballots were counted. I'll include the election results at the end,
though, instead of handling things in the actual order.

Kathie announced that Lou Harry would be our toastmaster. She encouraged
everyone to check out the InConJunction website and let the Webmaster know
if you spot any problems. We also got included on the Indiana Blood
Center's “Nice List” this year on their annual Christmas card for the
amount of blood we've donated.

Andy gave a brief Board report. Anjala apologized for cards not going out
from Member Services due to personal life issues. The Web forums are
mostly on hold for the moment till we have a good moderator team in place,
though all the technical side of things is mostly ready to go. If anyone
is interested in joining Kat Robertson and Ricky Lile with this, please,
write president at circleofjanus dot org. The Outreach Committee is
gearing up for Indy Pride in June.

Lynette reminded everyone that, due to this little thing called the
Superbowl, the February meeting had been rescheduled to the 11th.

We accepted the last meeting minutes as published. The  Treasurer's report
was unavailable, as Emily hadn't been able to get her computer functional
before the meeting. She promised to email it.

There was no new business, so we moved to announcements. Kat's son
graduated with an Architectural Technology (with CAD) degree and is
looking for job leads or tips; Leigh has two new stories coming out and
was also looking for someone interested in getting a free ticket to Kawa
Kon in St. Louis in March in exchange for helping them in their booth.
Randy mentioned Gen Con registration starts soon and encouraged everyone
to buy them early (when they're cheaper) and have them mailed to you,
since will-call is invariably a nightmare. Kathie reminded everyone to
check out InConJunction's Facebook page. Former GoH Michael Kube-McDowell
commented there. Dillan's unit all got back and through demobilisation
before Christmas. Randy discussed a new book about Area 51. Kat and Cheryl
talked about some new Stephen King offerings. The Girl With the Dragon
Tattoo got good reviews. Chris mentioned NetFlix is streaming The Man From
Earth. Kent announced he and Cat are engaged, but have no date set. 
Jessica says the New Discworld novel, Snuff, is good. Gary mentioned that
Anime Crossroads this past December doubled their attendance from last
year and are expanding their space next year. Chris says Going Postal has
been released on DVD/BluRay. Gary mentioned that Indy has another anime
convention coming-- the same weekend as InConJunction. Jeff and Kathie's
daughter is getting married August 25th. Beckie says Bandai North America
has dropped all new anime/manga and may or may not give it to a licensing
company. Chris mentioned the Funimation Facebook page running a "Show How
Big a Hetalia Fan You Are" contest. Lynette mentioned John Carter coming
out in March-- Pixar's first live-action film. Laura had books to give
away. Wendy mentioned Costco is selling "Moonshine Apple Pie" from
"Justified."

Our newly elected officers are Drew Happli as InConJunction 34 ConChair,
Lynette Cowper remaining as President, Kyra Shidler as Vice-President,
Laura Edwards remaining as Secretary, Kent Raquet as Treasurer, and Ricky
Lile remaining as Sergeant-at-Arms. They join the three officers not up
for election-- Chairman of the Board Andy Andrews, InConJunction 32
ConChair Kathie Thompson, and InConJunction 33 ConChair Melissa Kocias--
on our Board.

Lynette thanked outgoing Board members Anjala Dick, Emily Rodgers, and
Mike Cowper and reminded everyone about the change in date of the February
meeting and that was it for January!

Summary of the January Board Meeting

The Board met on January 21 at Valley Mills Christian Church. All officers
except Vice President Kyra Shidler and InConJunction 33 ConChair Melissa
Kocias were present, though InConJunction 32 ConChair Kathie Thompson only
attended part of the meeting via phone.

We approved the December Board minutes as published. And went right into
the major issue of the day-- future Board meetings. After that Kent
briefly covered treasurer stuff, then Kathie went over where we are with
InConJunction 32.

We discussed how the Anniversary Party went and discussed whether we
wanted to pursue any alternate meeting spaces. We discussed plans for Indy
Pride and Whosyercon, then moved to the CoJ budget, tax forms, and bank
accounts. We briefly discussed the non-discrimination policy in the
Bylaws. We ended with a discussion on how to handle promoting the
convention better.
