Summary of the February Club Meeting
 by Lynette Cowper

The club met on February 7 at Valley Mills Christian Church. All officers
were present. There were about 35 people all told. We had one guest, Bob.

We approved the January meeting minutes as published. We got a Treasurer's
Report, then convention reports. Jeff for 2015 announced Arlan Andrews and
Christopher Dunn will be guests. He's looking at a Fan GoH. Everything is
pretty much on track. PopCon is the week before us, but trying not to
screw us over. We will have a free table there selling badges. Laura for
2016 sent the first draft of the first batch of contracts to the Board, is
taking suggestions for Featured Guests, working on her budget, and looking
into doing something like the ribbons that are given out at Penguicon. Joe
for 2017 has preliminary agreements from Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon.
Kim Richey will be the Science Guest. He's looking at possibly inviting
Marc Gunn and/or Tom Smith. His theme is “On a wing and a spell.”

Andy summarized the last Board meeting. We scheduled future Board
meetings, spent a huge chunk of time on the detailed budget, looked into
how to make elections faster, and talked about committees.

In Old Business, Stephen had the signed-and-ready-to-go Membership Cards
in his car and would distribute them after the meeting. Mike would check
in with the Kinsey SF Art people.

In New Business, we dealt with the annual appointments. In Board
Appointments, Lynette is heading the Outreach Committee with assistance of
Laura, Ian, Kat, Joe, Shaun, and Beckie. Club and Convention Archivist
will be Bob Richey and Webmaster is Jeff Thompson with Joe Greene and
Lynette as assistants. The Audit Committee was tabled. Other positions we
have had in the past or have had suggested in the past that are either
unneeded this year, covered by the Board, some other committee, or a
ConCom position are Promotional Events Coordinator, Online Coordinator,
Indianapolis-Area Club & Con Ambassador, Print Buyer, and Hotel Liaison.
For Presidential Appointments, Member Services is Kat R, Newsletter Editor
is Lynette Cowper (Tina is interested in assisting), Club Quartermaster is
Anjala and Dillan if they still want it. Welcoming Committee or
Coordinator was tabled. Other suggested/historic positions that are either
unneeded this year, covered by the Board, or some other committee are
Member Activities, Club Historian, and Meeting Location Search Committee.
We discussed Club Activities. Next month's after meeting is Weird Science.
If you are going out to do something fun, post it to the CoJ Facebook
page.

In Announcements, Kat R mentioned the 7Sins Kickstarter, and also that she
had been in a hit-and-run, but was fine, with a new car. Chris C said
Studio Grill is running Back to the Future October 21st. Bob Richey is
looking for Programming ideas. Nathan T and Kathryn had new jobs and John
B is looking for one. Randy said The Wind Rises was a sweet movie. Deb
Hunt is looking for actors for Little Con of Horrors for the convention.
Wendy was in the running for the Tweet of the Day on Monday. Lynette
mentioned Ren had just turned 17 and she was turning 50 the next day. Joe
Greene warned everyone against opening emails purporting to be from
Anthem.

And that was it for February!
