Catherine Asaro Science Guest of Honor Catherine Asaro holds a Phd in Chemical Physics and MA in Physics, both from Harvard, and a BS with Highest Honors in Chemistry from UCLA. She has done research are the University of Toronto in Canada, the Max Planck Institut für Astrophysik in Germany, and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics among others. She has published scientific papers in journals such as Physical Review Letters and the Journal of Chemical Physics. Catherine's fiction is a successful blend of hard science fiction and exciting space adventure. Her works include: Primary Inversion, Catch the Lightning, The Last Hawk, The Radiant Seas, The Veiled Web, Ascendant Sun, and The Quantum Rose. She has published short fiction in Analog, reviews and nonfiction essays, and scientific papers in refereed journals, including Physical Review Letters, The Journal of Chemical Physics, and Chemical Physics Letters. She also writes a column for Tangent magazine. In addition to her physics and fiction work, this former ballerina now teaches at the Caryl Maxwell Classical Ballet in Maryland.
