IUPUI English Professor and co-founder of the Bradbury Chronicles Project

Jonathan R. Eller;

Jon Eller (B.S., United States Air Force Academy, 1973; B.A., University of Maryland, 1979; M.A. (1981), Ph.D. (1985), Indiana University) is Professor of English and Associate Director of the Institute for American Thought at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. The Institute is also home for a new Ray Bradbury research center known as the Bradbury Chronicles Project, which he recently co-founded with long-time Bradbury scholar and colleague, Professor William F. Touponce. Professor Eller is also Textual Editor of the Writings of Charles Sanders Peirce and the Works of George Santayana, and holds an adjunct professorship in American Studies. He retired from twenty years as an Air Force officer in 1993; his military service included operational assignments with the Tactical Air Command and the Pacific Air Forces before duty as an English professor at both the U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs) and the U. S. Naval Academy (Annapolis). He has published bibliographical and textual studies of Ray Bradbury, Joseph Heller, Thomas Pynchon and Robert Penn Warren. Professor Eller co-authored Ray Bradbury: The Life of Fiction (2004), which includes the standard publication checklist for Mr. Bradbury's short stories. Since 2000 he has also worked on four historical volumes of Mr. Bradbury's fiction. He wrote the introduction for the expanded edition of Dark Carnival (2000) and edited a restored edition of The Halloween Tree (2005). He is the textual editor of the Fahrenheit 451 manuscripts recently published in Match to Flame (2007), and is co-editor of Summer Morning, Summer Night (2007), a collection of the Greentown stories that were left behind when Ray Bradbury published Dandelion Wine and Farewell Summer.
