Yet, after the advent of the internet, they have apparently died out in favor of things like blogs, web pages, youtube and so on. Personally, I tried doing a print fanzine a couple of years ago. While it was fun to do, it was a money pit. Will fanzines ever come back? While the internet is great for its immediacy, there is much to be said for the joy of anticipation as you went to the mailbox, to either get letters from fans, or to receive fanzines that you have sent letters to. Finally, is fandom better off or worse off because of the internet?

Survivalism is seen as a stereotype, not the real spectrum that it is. It ranges from having funds to handle economic downturns to complete failure of society. If you know the differences, and values of each, you can portray them properly. Perhaps 0.001% prepare for/want a full collapse. 0.5% of people can handle 6 months of no income (where all should be). In fact, few can/will survive even a partial collapse of society. Only a tiny number of authors realistically portray what it would be like. If you understand the spectrum, you can write a realistic plot.
